  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 tablespoons cold water approximately

    Mix flour and salt thoroughly.

    Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.

    Add a little water at a time, blending lightly.

    Dough should be just moist enough to cling together when pressed.

    Shape dough into ball.

    Roll out on a lightly floured surface or between two sheets of waxed paper.

    Place in pie pan.

    Trim.

    Flute edges.

    Add filling.

    For a baked pie shell, prick bottom and sides with fork.
