Ingredients

  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 egg and 1 yolk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. flour

Directions

    Mix baking powder, salt and 1 cup flour.

    Lightly beat egg and egg yolk.
  3. 3
    Add sour cream and mix.
  4. 4
    Add flour, a little at a time using the mixed flour first.

    Add enough so dough can be rolled out.

    Be sure it is soft and not too stiff.

    Cut with large round cookie cutter.

    Add filling of your choice and pinch together at seams.

    Drop in boiling water.

    If freezing, remove and drain as soon as the pierogi rises to the top.

    If serving, cook 1 to 2 minutes longer.

    Top with melted butter, sour cream and/or chopped onions and serve.
