Ingredients
- 2 c. pinto beans
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/8 tsp. marjoram
- 5 c. water
- 2 fresh pork hocks
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
Directions

1Wash beans and place in a large pot.

2Add water.

3Boil for 2 minutes.

4Remove from heat.

5Let stand, covered, 2 hours.

6Drain and rise.

7Add fresh water to cover.

8Add 1 teaspoon of salt and then hocks.

9Bring to a boil, then simmer, covered, for 1 hour. Remove skin and bones from hocks.

10Return meat to a pot.

11Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of salt and rest of ingredients.

12Simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally, until done.
