  • 1 lb dried pinto bean
  • water
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 yellow onions, minced
  • 13 cup jalapeno, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cumin, ground
  • 14 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 34 cup bacon, chopped

Directions

    Wash beans; put into a large bowl or cooking pot.

    Pour water over beans to cover them; let stand overnight, drain and discard water.

    Put beans, garlic, onions, peppers, sugar, cumin and peppers in to a large stock pot.

    Pour water to cover mixture.

    Bring to a boil and simmer for 45 minutes.

    Add salt and bacon; continue to simmer until beans are tender, about 45 minutes.
