Ingredients
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 3/4 c. plus 1 Tbsp. warm water (105~ to 115~)
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in measuring cup with warm water.

2Stir together flour and salt in large mixing bowl.

3Cut shortening into flour with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4Stir in dissolved yeast.

5Turn out onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead just until smooth.

6Place dough in large greased bowl; turn once to grease top.

7Cover and let rise in warm draft-free area until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

8Punch dough down.

9Divide dough in half.

10On floured surface, roll each half into an 11-inch circle.

11Place rounds on greased 12-inch pizza pans.

12Make pizza as desired. Bake at 400°. Makes 2 pizzas.
