- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 tsp. flavoring
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 c. sifted self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Cream butter until soft.

2Add the flavoring and the finely granulated sugar, stirring briskly until the mixture is light and fluffy.

3Continue creaming and add slowly the well-beaten egg yolks.

4Add the sifted dry ingredients and milk alternately, a little milk at a time.

5Beat in the dry ingredients.

6Stir in the milk.

7The first and last addition should be the dry ingredients. Fold in the beaten egg whites last of all.

8Pour the batter into a lightly greased pan.

9Bake in a moderately hot oven at 375° for 15 to 18 minutes.

10This batter may be baked in layer pan, or in muffin pans as cupcakes.
