- 1 1/2 c. plain unbleached flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 to 2/3 c. milk
- 1/4 stick melted butter
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450° to 500°.

2Grease pan.

3Combine dry ingredients.

4Cut in shortening.

5Add milk slowly; mix to smooth consistency.

6Knead dough gently on floured surface.

7Do not overknead.

8Use hand to press out dough to 1/2 to 1-inch thickness.

9Cut out with biscuit cutter.

10Coat both sides of biscuit with melted butter.

11Bake for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
