- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs, separated
- 2 c. cake flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. milk
Directions

1Cream shortening with 3/4 cup sugar.

2Add flavoring and egg yolks; cream again.

3Sift and measure flour; add baking powder and salt and sift again.

4Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to first mixture, adding about 1/3 at a time.

5Fold in egg whites, beaten stiffly into which remaining 1/4 cup of sugar has been beaten.

6Pour batter into lightly greased and floured pans (or pan).

7Good plain or you can frost.
