- 2 tablespoons butter, no substitutions
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 12 cup molasses (either regular or light molasses is fine)
- 1 12 cups flour
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 cup water, boiling
- 12 cup raisins
- 12 cup currants
Directions

1Sift the dry ingredients together.

2Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; add egg and mix thoroughly.

3Add molasses.

4Add sifted dry ingredients alternatively to the batter with the boiling water.

5Add raisins and currants.

6Mix well; pour into a well-greased pudding mold and steam for 90 minutes.

7Serve with any desired pudding sauce.
