  • 5 eggs
  • 4 c. grated bread crumbs
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 1 lb. raisins (dark and light)
  • 1/2 lb. mixed fruit
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 lb. almonds
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 lb. beef suet, ground
  • 1/4 lb. citron, sliced thin
  • 1 lb. cut dates
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 lb. pecans

Directions

    Beat eggs light.

    Add sugar, flour, soda, spices, milk, bread crumbs and suet.

    Flour fruit mix.

    Add to batter.

    Bake in a steam pan for 3 hours with room to rise at 300°.

    Decorate with blanched almonds and glazed fruit.

    Serve with sugar saturated in lemon extract and lighted.
