  • 1 large pomegranate heavy, ripe, with bright shiny skin, crown slightly pliable

Directions

    First, cut the fruit in half on a non-wooden cutting board (I prefer my tempered glass board as this will not stain as will some plastic or styrene boards).

    In a large bowl of cold water, break apart the pomegranate half and pluck/tear the seeds away from the pith and rind.

    Repeat with the other half.

    Amazingly, the seeds of the fruit will sink to the bottom of the bowl and most of the white pith and rind will rise to the surface of the water, making separation easy.

    Simply skim the debris off the top then drain the seeds.

    Place the drained/cleaned seeds in a bowl.

    These delicious gemlike seeds look lovely in a crystal serving bowl.
