Ingredients

  • 2 qt. popped corn
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Preheat oven to 250°.

    Put popcorn in a large 4-inch deep buttered baking pan (like a roaster).

    Keep popcorn warm in oven. Combine sugar, syrup, water, butter and salt in saucepan.

    Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.

    Cook until mixture reaches 250° on candy thermometer, stirring frequently.

    Remove from heat and immediately stir in vanilla. Remove popcorn from oven.

    Pour syrup mixture over popcorn, stirring to mix well. Form into balls.

    (Make sure hands are well buttered; popcorn will be very hot and very sticky.)

    Makes approximately 8 large or 12 to 14 small.
