- 4 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. white Karo syrup
- 1 1/2 c. warm water
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 sq. butter
- 3 (6 1/2 oz.) cans Planters peanuts
- 1/2 dishpan popped buttered popcorn
Directions

1Combine sugar, water, syrup and salt in saucepan.

2Stir until sugar is completely dissolved.

3Cook rapidly until small amount in cup of cold water forms a hard ball (260°).

4Add molasses and butter.

5Cook slowly until a small amount forms a hard ball and cracks when you bite and doesn't stick to your teeth (275°; lower altitude 280°).

6Pour this over a dishpan sprayed with Pam and half full of buttered popcorn with Planters nuts sprinkled on top. Mix cooked syrup with popcorn and nuts with large wooden spoon. Divide and place on 3 buttered cookie sheets.

7Pound down flat and cool.

8Store in airtight containers.
