- 1 cup flour
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 12 teaspoon shortening (melted)
Directions

1Mix salt and flour, add 1/2 the milk until smooth.

2Add remaining 1/2 of the milk, well beaten egg and shortening.

3Beat 2 minutes with egg beater.

4Turn into hot greased iron gem pans and bake about 35 minutes in hot oven 450F.

5Then reduce the temperature to 350F and bake about 15 minutes longer.

6Popovers can also be made using 1/3 cup whole-wheat and 2/3 cup white flour.
