Ingredients

  • 4 unbaked pie crusts
  • 2 1/2 lb. ground pork
  • 2 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 c. water
  • 6 to 7 small onions
  • bread (1/2 to 1 loaf)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. sage
  • 1/4 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 c. applesauce

Directions

    Simmer pork, beef, water, onion, salt and pepper for 1 1/2 hours.

    Let cool; skim off fat.

    Add enough bread to hold meat mixture together.

    Add spices and applesauce; mix well.

    Divide into 2 unbaked pie crusts; add top crusts.

    Poke top and bake at 425° for 15 minutes.

    May freeze baked pies.

    Wrap well.

    Heat thoroughly before serving.
