- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 4 lb. beef roast
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire
- 8 small potatoes
- 8 medium carrots, cut up
- 8 small or 2 medium onions
Directions

1Mix together flour, salt and pepper and rub on meat.

2Melt shortening in large Dutch oven; brown meat and reduce heat.

3Add water and Worcestershire.

4Cover tightly and simmer about 4 hours or until meat is tender.

5About 1 hour before end of cooking time, add vegetables.

6Makes 6 to 8 servings.
