  • 1 c. mashed potatoes
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 yeast cake
  • 1 c. melted butter
  • 4 eggs, well beaten
  • 6 c. flour (about)

Directions

    Mix together potatoes, water, sugar and yeast.

    Let rise in warm place overnight.

    In the morning, add melted butter, eggs and flour to make a very soft dough.

    Form into balls the size of walnuts by rolling dough in hands.

    Keep hands well buttered to prevent sticking.

    Place close together in a well-greased shallow pan.

    Place in oven at 200° for just 1 minute, just enough to warm oven.

    Let rise 2 hours, then bake 2 hours and 15 minutes at 400°.
