  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. lemon flavoring
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Directions

    Sift flour, salt and baking powder 3 times and set aside. Cream the butter and Crisco thoroughly. Add sugar.

    Cream well. Put vanilla and lemon flavoring in the milk. Add 1/2 milk to mixture, then add a little flour and one egg.

    Repeat until all flour and eggs are used, beating well. Add remaining milk, still beating until smooth.

    Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours for tube pan. (Less time needed for 2 loaf pans.)
