Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 5 or 6 eggs
- 3 c. granulated sugar
- 3/4 to 1 c. milk
- 3 c. unsifted Swans Down cake flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sherry, almond or lemon extract
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions

1Sift flour, baking powder and salt together 3 times.

2Cream butter, Crisco and sugar with electric mixer.

3Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each one.

4Then, by hand, add one cup of flour mixture to creamed mixture and follow with small amount of milk.

5Repeat and finish with adding flour.

6Put in 10-inch greased and floured tube pan.

7Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 20 to 25 minutes.

8Test for doneness with a straw.
