  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 3 c. sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 6 eggs, at room temperature
  • 3 c. cake flour
  • 1 c. heavy cream (not whipped)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

    Add 1 egg at a time, beating after each one.

    Add flour and cream alternately. Beat well.

    Stir in vanilla.

    Grease a 10-inch tube pan.

    Place in a cold oven.

    Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours or until tested done.
