- 3 1/2 c. plain flour
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1/3 c. Crisco
- 3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon
- 1/4 tsp. almond or 2 Tbsp. lemon (which I prefer)
Directions

1Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add one egg at a time, beating well after each.

2Combine dry ingredients and milk alternately to creamed butter mixture.

3Add flavoring; mix.

4Preheat oven to 350°; cook for 10 minutes, then reduce to 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
