- 2 sticks butter or margarine
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. all-purpose flour, sifted 3 times
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 5 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Have all ingredients at room temperature.

2Cream butter and Crisco; add sugar.

3Beat for 5 minutes on medium speed.

4Add eggs, one at a time.

5Beat only until the yolk disappears (do not overbeat).

6Add vanilla.

7Mix baking powder to flour on third sifting.

8Add flour and milk to cream mixture, alternately, beginning and ending with flour.

9Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.

10Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

11Let cool in pan 15 minutes before removing from pan.
