Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. unsulphured molasses
  • 2 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. (6 oz.) butterscotch flavored pieces
  • pecan halves

Directions

    Cream together shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add molasses and egg; mix well.

    Sift in dry ingredients.

    Mix thoroughly.

    Stir in butterscotch pieces.

    Chill in refrigerator two hours.

    Form into approximately 1-inch balls; roll in granulated sugar.

    Place on greased baking sheets.

    Top each with a pecan half.

    Bake in a 375° oven 10 to 12 minutes.
