Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. evaporated milk
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • 2 1/2 c. pecans

Directions

    Mix first 5 ingredients.

    Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

    After it comes to a boil, test for soft ball stage by dropping small amounts in a cup of cold water.

    When the drop can be rolled without breaking, remove from heat and add the remaining ingredients.

    Stir vigorously until shine is gone and it is semi-stiff.

    Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper that has been coated with margarine, and allow to cool.
