- 34 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 14 teaspoon baking powder
- 12 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (12 ounce) jar preserves, seedless works best
- 1 13 cups shredded coconut (optional)
- 12 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions

1In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar.

2Add egg - mix well.

3In seperate bowl, combine flour and baking powder.

4Gradually add to butter mixture.

5Add coconut, walnuts and vanilla extract, mix thoroughly.

6Press two-thirds of dough into greased 13in x 9in x2in baking pan.

7Spread with preserves; crumble remaining dough over preserves.

8Bake 350 for 30 - 35 minutees or until golden brown.

9Cool in pan.

10Yield 36 bars.
