- 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 1 pkg. dry active yeast
- 3 1/2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. butter (at room temperature)
- 1/2 beaten egg (at room temperature)
- 3 1/2 to 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. water
- coarse or kosher salt
Directions

1Place water in electric mixer bowl.

2Sprinkle in yeast; stir until dissolved.

3Add sugar, salt, butter, 1/2 beaten egg and 1 1/2 cups flour.

4Beat at medium speed until smooth.

5Work in as much of the remaining flour as is necessary to make a stiff dough. Cover bowl with aluminum foil; refrigerate for 4 hours.
