  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 to 5 c. flour
  • 1 egg (no matter how many pretzels are made)

Directions

    Mix all ingredients except for flour and egg.

    Add flour to form stiff dough.

    Knead 10 minutes.

    Shape; roll into a rope. Place on greased pan.

    Bake at 425° for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown.

    Brush each pretzel with beaten egg.

    Put coarse salt (Crazy Jane's) on each pretzel.
