Ingredients
- 8 oz. chopped dates
- 3/4 c. water
- 1/2 Tbsp. flour
- 3/4 c. light brown sugar
- 1/2 c. quick rolled oats
- 1 c. coconut
- 1 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine
Directions

1Mix first 3 ingredients and 1/4 cup sugar.

2Heat mixture on stove and bring to a boil.

3Simmer until thick.

4Cool and then place in blender and blend until smooth.

5In separate bowl, mix remaining sugar (1/2 cup), oats, coconut, flour and baking soda. Cut in butter, using a pastry blender or 2 dinner knives.

6Press 2/3 of this mixture on bottom of a 9 x 9-inch pan.

7Spread the date mixture on top and then crumble remaining coconut mixture on top.

8Bake 30 minutes in preheated 375° oven.
