  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. oil or oleo
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. cooked, chopped, seeded prunes
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 c. nuts

    Blend oil and sugar.

    Add eggs and dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.

    Then add prunes.

    Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan at 300° for 45 minutes.

    Cut cake in squares while hot.

    Pour icing over cake while cake and icing are both hot.

    While cake is baking, prepare topping.
