  • 2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda (baking)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. quick cooking oats

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar well; beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine remaining ingredients and stir into creamed mixture; beat well.

    Shape into walnut-size balls; place on a greased cookie sheet.

    Flatten slightly.

    Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes. Yield: 5 to 6 dozen.
