- 2 c. flour
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 2/3 c. milk
- 3 Tbsp. melted butter
- 5 c. apples (about 7 to 8)
- 1/2 c. light brown sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Directions

1Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

2Cut in shortening.

3Add milk to make soft dough.

4Add a little more milk, if necessary.

5Turn out onto floured board; knead gently for 2 minutes.

6Roll out 1/4-inch thick and brush with melted butter. Cover with apples; sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Roll up like jelly roll; form into semi-circle on a greased cookie sheet.

7Bake at 425° for 35 to 40 minutes.

8While warm, frost with icing made of confectioners sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and a few drops of hot water.
