Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. coarsely grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine, softened
  • 1 1/4 c. hot water

Directions

    Set aside 1 cup flour.

    Mix remaining flour and other dry ingredients, including yeast, in a large bowl. Stir margarine and water into dry mix.

    Mix in only enough reserved flour to make very thick batter. Cover and let rest 10 minutes. Turn batter into greased 1 1/2-quart casserole.

    Cover and let rise in warm place until double in size, about 30 to 45 minutes. Bake at 375° for 35 minutes or until done. Remove and cool on wire rack.
