- 1 c. (2 sticks) butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
- 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- powdered sugar (to dust over top; optional)
Directions

1In mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.

2Add eggs. Beat until light and fluffy.

3Add extract.

4Stir in flour and baking powder.

5Mix until smooth.

6Butter a 13 x 9-inch cake pan. Turn the mixture into the pan.

7Spoon the pie filling into the cake in 16 spots, spacing 4 spoonfuls evenly in each direction.

8Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes or until golden and cake tests done.

9Cut into 16 pieces.

10Place bottom side up on plate.

11Dust with powdered sugar and add whipped cream.

12Serve warm.
