- 5 level c. flour
- 2 c. light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 lb. raisins
- 1/2 lb. currants
- 3/4 c. candied mixed fruit
- 2 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 lb. margarine
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 heaping tsp. baking powder
- 1 level tsp. baking soda
- 2 eggs
Directions

1Cream sugar and margarine.

2Add eggs.

3Combine flour, salt, spices, baking powder and baking soda.

4Add raisins, currants and candied fruit.

5Add buttermilk alternately with flour mixture. Make as moist as fruit cake.

6Pour into 2 loaf pans, greased and lined with waxed paper.

7Bake in a 350° oven for 1/2 hour, then at 300° for last half hour.

8Cool on rack.

9Wrap in foil and store in refrigerator.
