  • 1 cake or pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 beaten egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 5 Tbsp. melted shortening or oil
  • 3 1/2 c. flour

Directions

    Dissolve yeast.

    Add remaining ingredients.

    Knead a little. Let rise until double.

    Make into rolls.

    Let rise again.

    Bake at 400°.

    Yields 1 dozen.
