Ingredients
- 1 cake or pkg. granulated yeast
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. liquid shortening
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. boiling water
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.

2Add sugar to well beaten egg.

3Add shortening.

4Pour over the mixture 1/2 cup boiling water, stirring thoroughly.

5Add the dissolved yeast. Measure the salt with 3 cups of flour.

6Mix sufficiently to get on the board and roll to your desired thickness.

7Cut with 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

8Brush tops with melted butter and fold over, not crowding.

9Place in warm room and allow to rise 1 to 2 hours. Then place in preheated 400° oven.

10Recipe can be doubled and the balance stored in refrigerator.

11Can make a tea ring, clover leaf rolls and even a loaf of bread.
