- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/8 c. warm water
- 1 c. milk
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 egg yolks, beaten
- 1/4 c. mashed potatoes
- 3 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Heat milk.

2Put shortening, sugar and salt in large mixing bowl.

3Add milk and cool to lukewarm.

4Dissolve yeast in water. Add egg yolks, vanilla and yeast to milk mixture.

5Stir in mashed potatoes and most of flour to form soft moist dough; knead well. Let rise until double (about 1/2 hour).

6When raised, roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut donuts.

7Let raise 1/2 hour.

8Fry in deep fat at 350° until done.

9Glaze while hot with 1 pound confectioners sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and enough hot water to make a thin paste.

10Let cool.
