  • 2 c. water
  • 2 c. raisins
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • dash of salt
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. flour

Directions

    Boil first 3 ingredients until foamy.

    Beat eggs, salt and sugar, then add vanilla and shortening.

    Add raisin mixture to egg mixture, then add flour.

    Fill 4 (No. 2) cans 2/3 full.

    Bake 1 hour at 350°.
