- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 stick margarine
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1 egg
- 4 1/2 c. unsifted flour
- 1 c. raisins
Directions

1Scald milk; stir in sugar, salt and margarine and cool to lukewarm.

2Measure warm water into large warm bowl.

3Sprinkle or crumble in yeast; stir until dissolved.

4Stir in lukewarm milk mixture, egg and 3 cups flour; beat until smooth.

5Stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter.

6Cover; let rise in warm place, free from draft, until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

7Stir batter down.

8Beat in raisins.

9Turn into 2 greased 1-quart casseroles.

10Round bakeproof bowls are fine.

11Bake in moderate oven (350°) for about 40 to 45 minutes.
