Raisin Honey Bread Pudding

  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. honey
  • 4 c. white bread cubes
  • 1 qt. milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • few grains nutmeg

Directions

    Rinse raisins and drain.

    Combine honey and bread cubes; cook over low heat and stir until bread absorbs honey (2 to 3 minutes). Blend milk, slightly beaten eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla together. Add with raisins to bread cubes; mix well.

    Pour into buttered baking dish.

    Sprinkle with nutmeg.

    Place dish in pan of hot water and bake in moderate oven at 350° for 1 hour or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

    Serve plain or with whipped cream.
