- 6 to 6 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 1/4 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
Directions

1In mixer bowl, combine 3 cups of the flour and the yeast.

2In saucepan, heat together milk, sugar, shortening and salt just until warm, stirring occasionally, to melt shortening.

3Add to dry ingredients in mixer bowl.

4Beat at low speed of electric mixer for 1/2 minute, scraping sides of bowl constantly.

5Beat 3 minutes at high speed.
