Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 c. warm water
- 2 tsp. salt
- 4 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water.

2While yeast softens, sift flour, sugar and salt in large bowl.

3Stir in dissolved yeast. Add enough of second cup of water to hold dough together.

4Mix well until you have a sticky dough.

5Let rise until double in bulk.

6Punch down and knead.
-
7Give it a good beating.
-
8Divide into equal parts.
-
9Place in a greased baking dish or loaf pan.

10Cover and let rise again.
-
11Bake at 400°.

12For a harder crust, brush top with egg whites.
