Red Beans With Rice

Ingredients
- 1 lb. dried kidney beans
- 1 3/4 qt. water (to cover)
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 2/3 of 8 oz. tomato sauce
- 1 meaty ham bone or 2 c. diced ham
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- dash of Tabasco
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- seasoned salt to taste
Directions

1Soak beans overnight in water.

2Drain in morning.

3Cook beans and ham in water for 1 hour.

4Then add all ingredients except seasoned salt.

5Cook another 1 1/2 hours.

6Cook 1 hour.

7Reheat, simmer 1 hour and add seasoned salt to taste.

8Serve over cooked rice.

9Great with cornbread.
