- 3 to 4 lb. head of red cabbage
- 5 to 6 Tbsp. oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 to 4 apples, skinned and sliced
- salt, sugar, vinegar
- 1 bay leaf
- 3 to 4 whole cloves, ground
- 1 to 2 whole allspice, ground
Directions

1Clean and chop red cabbage.

2Heat oil in large pan over medium heat and add cabbage and onion.

3Stir to coat cabbage.

4Add about 1/2 to 1/3 cups water and 2 to 3 tablespoons vinegar.

5Add the apples and spices; stir.

6Cover to let steam 70 to 90 minutes. Taste for salt, sugar and more vinegar.
