- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. bacon fat
- 1/4 c. cider vinegar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. caraway seed
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 3 or 4 c. shredded red cabbage
- 2 medium apples, peeled and cubed
Directions

1Saute onion in fat in saucepan until transparent.

2Add sugar, vinegar, caraway seed, water, salt and pepper.

3Mix well.

4Add cabbage and apples.

5Steam, tightly covered, 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
