- 8 slices bacon
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 green apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 1 small red cabbage, shredded
- 1 Tbsp. red currant jelly
- pinch of nutmeg
- 1/2 c. beer
- salt and pepper
Directions

1Fry the bacon, remove when crisp and drain on paper towels. Discard all but 2 tablespoons of bacon fat.

2Saute onions and apple in bacon fat.

3Transfer to a deep casserole and add shredded cabbage, red currant jelly, nutmeg, beer, salt and pepper; simmer over low heat for 1 hour.

4Serve with pork.
