- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 large bell pepper (green), chopped
- 1 15 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1 15 oz. can chopped tomatoes
- 3 15 oz. cans of water
- 3 c. rice (not cooked)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 1/4 c. sugar
- Fried bacon grease
Directions

1Cover bottom of pot in bacon grease.

2Add chopped onion and bell pepper and saute until tender.

3Add tomato sauce, chopped tomatoes and 2 cans of water. Salt and pepper to taste. Add 4 tbsp. of sugar. Bring to a boil. Add rice and bring to a boil again.

4Turn heat down and simmer until rice is tender, but not dry, stirring occasionally. There should be a little juice in the pot.
