  • 1 c. buttermilk or 1 c. milk with 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 1/2 c. oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 oz. red food coloring
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa

Directions

    Mix the first 3 ingredients in a large bowl. Add food coloring, vanilla and vinegar. Mix well. Sift together the flour, sugar, soda and cocoa. Blend the dry ingredients with the cream mixture. Pour into 2 (9-inch) cake pans (greased). Bake for 30 minutes at 350°.
