  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. vinegar

    Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, then coloring-cocoa mix.

    Beat well.

    Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.

    Stir in vanilla and vinegar; don't beat.

    Bake at 350° in 2 (9-inch) or 9 x 13-inch greased pan for 35 minutes.
