  • 2 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. Wesson oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 3/4 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 (1 oz.) red food coloring

Directions

    Cream sugar, Wesson oil and eggs.

    Beat well. (In cup, mix coloring, cocoa, and vinegar.)

    Pour into sugar mixture.

    Sift flour, soda and salt together.

    Add alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla.

    Pour into two 9 inch or three 8 inch layer pans. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
